Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy became a viral sensation this week for his appearance in the new EA Sports “College Football 26” video game. It did not take him long for him to become aware of that.

Some top coaches will have their likenesses appear in the upcoming game this year, and Gundy is one of them. On Monday, a screenshot of Gundy quickly went viral, as the Oklahoma State coach looked like he was rocking an afro in the game.

Gundy addressed the look on Wednesday at Big 12 media day, and he seemed pretty pleased with the result.

“It’s pretty cool, someone put me in the video game. Someone showed me my hair. They gave me pretty good hair. That’s permanent hair,” Gundy said, via Brett McMurphy of On3.

Gundy added that his virtual likeness is more “muscled up” than the real thing, and that he expects his high school buddies to get a kick out of how he was depicted.

Gundy is known for his famous mullet, which EA seemingly tried to replicate here. They did not quite nail it, but what we got instead is very memorable.

At this rate, Gundy is probably pleased to be in the game at all. His status at Oklahoma State was in some doubt this offseason, but he will return for a 21st season in 2025, both in real life and virtually.
