Chris Vargas, the top quarterback recruit in the class of 2028, has made his college decision.
Vargas has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes, he announced Saturday. He chose Ohio State over the likes of Florida, Michigan, and Oregon.
“Just the coaching staff and the place they’re at, the culture, they have everything that is great for me and the right fit for me,” Vargas said, via Steve Wiltfong of On3. “I think Ohio State is the place that can develop me the best.”
Vargas is mostly a pocket passer, but has been heralded as having potentially elite arm skills. He is preparing for his junior season at Lawrence (Mass.) St. John’s Preparatory School having already won a state title last season.
Ohio State already had the No. 1 recruiting class for 2028 before Vargas’ decision, and the quarterback represents the third five-star recruit that has committed to the Buckeyes. They’ll lose plenty of talent before any of those recruits play in Columbus, but the future is clearly bright no matter what.
