Watch: Ohio State takes advantage of fortunate spot to score touchdown
Things were hard enough for the Minnesota Golden Gophers in their game at Ohio State on Saturday even without some questionable officiating going against them.
On a key 4th down and 2 late in the first quarter, the Gophers appeared to have Ohio State running back Mike Weber stopped short of a first down, but a very generous spot from the referees gave it to the Buckeyes anyway.
This was ruled a first down on 4th down. Looked like #Gophers got the stop. #Buckeyes score on the next play. pic.twitter.com/BOeZKOAUd0

Tough spot for Minny on 4th and 1. They gave OSU the 1st down. Next play, touchdown. pic.twitter.com/0EvkodMhmw

To make matters worse, quarterback Dwayne Haskins hit receiver Terry McLaurin on the very next play for a 41-yard touchdown.
All we will say is that the fine folks in Ann Arbor would be very quick to point out that this sort of thing has happened before, albeit in much higher stakes.
