SEC coach: Butch Jones did a ‘complete horse s— job’ at Tennessee
The further removed we get from the Butch Jones era at Tennessee, the more negatively it seems to be viewed by fans an analysts. Apparently that goes for one of Jones’ former SEC coaching peers, as well.
In Lindy’s 2018 SEC preview, an anonymous coach from college football’s most powerful conference was asked for his thoughts on Tennessee and the type of shape the Vols are in heading into the season. The coach unloaded on Jones for the job he did.

The same coach said Jeremy Pruitt will have to change the culture at Tennessee, but he believes the position Jones has left him in will make that difficult to do immediately.

Jones was fired last season following an embarrassing 50-17 loss to Missouri, which dropped Tennessee’s record to 4-6 on the season at the time. He finished with an overall record of 34-27 with the school and won three bowl games, but the Vols were just 14-24 in SEC play under Jones.
If Jones wants to begin rebuilding his resume, he has landed in a great spot to do just that.
