Texas A&M had disappointing results on the field last year despite having the best recruiting class in the country, but the losing season has not stopped the Aggies from continuing to land top players.
Cameron Coleman, a 5-star wide receiver recruit from Phenix City, Ala., told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday that he has committed to Texas A&M. He chose the Aggies over other powerhouse schools like Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Clemson.
“What stood out about Texas A&M was how I felt like home every time I went there,” Coleman said. “From the coaching staff, to spending time with my future teammates. We are all going to stop playing football one day and that’s where the education aspect and Aggie Network comes into play and it’s an amazing network.”
Coleman also said he has built a close relationship with wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig dating back to “when Texas A&M was my first offer and my only offer.”
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Coleman is ranked as a top-five wide receiver nationally. He is the first 5-star recruit for Texas A&M in the 2024 class.
Texas A&M finished 5-7 last year, which was their first losing season since 2009. There was some talk of the program making a massive change, but it makes sense to give Jimbo Fisher’s No. 1-ranked 2022 recruiting class another season. The fact that the Aggies can still land players like Coleman is a good sign.
