UCLA QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson replaced by Austin Burton after left leg injury
UCLA put together a surprising performance for the second game in a row, scoring over 40 points at home against a ranked Arizona State team. But the team lost quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to a left leg injury in the fourth quarter.
The Bruins had gotten the ball on a turnover of downs. On a second down play, DTR rushed for 12 yards but was upended on a hit and lost a fumble. He was down on the field with an injury and had to be helped off while in pain.
Thompson-Robinson was later shown on the sideline icing his left leg. Austin Burton replaced him at quarterback.
Thompson-Robinson also got hurt in UCLA’s loss to Arizona, which led to Burton starting and playing in a loss to Oregon State.
After beginning the season 1-5 in Chip Kelly’s second season as head coach, UCLA has turned things around. They beat Stanford 34-16 and Arizona State 42-32 and are now 2-0 since their bye and 3-2 in Pac-12 play.
