Utah coach Kyle Whittingham goes nuts after refs miss PI call
Stop me if you’ve heard this before: Pac-12 referees badly missed a call in a game. That’s what had Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham so upset at the end of the Pac-12 Championship Game on Friday night.
Whittingham’s Utes were down 10-3 and had a 4th-and-12 at the Huskies 42-yard line with 32 seconds left. Jason Shelley attempted a pass to Siaosi Mariner that was broken up by Byron Murphy, who made clear contact with the receiver prior to the ball arriving.
The refs did not call pass interference, which gave Washington the ball back and allowed them to kneel out the clock and win.
Whittingham was fuming at the refs over the missed call as he walked onto the field for a handshake:

Now you know why Mike Leach picked Whittingham as a coach who would win an all-out brawl between the conference’s coaches. I would NOT want to get on his bad side.
