No, really. Former Kansas State walk-on Justin Werner had his tonsils removed in January and could not believe how big they were when he saw them. According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, everyone thought the tonsils were so large that measurements should be taken. Werner then researched the largest tonsils on record and filed some paperwork before making it official with Guinness: he had the world’s largest tonsils.
Werner played 16 games at Kansas State during the 2008-2009 season, and one has to wonder how he could even breathe when you have a look at these things. The fact that he was able to run up and down a basketball court with his throat essentially closed is in itself a miracle. He said he finds the Guinness World Record to be “more humorous than anything” and that he would have rather earned a world record with something he had control over. Personally I’m glad he chose to submit it to Guinness, because the world needs to see these things. Check out some of these pictures courtesy of the Capital-Journal:
