Joel McHale jokes about Jason Pierre-Paul’s fireworks accident at ESPY Awards
ESPN’s annual ESPY Awards show aired on Wednesday and, as usual, the biggest names in sports were in the audience. Ronda Rousey was there and delivered a jab at Floyd Mayweather after taking home the award for Best Fighter.
Also making an appearance was Jason Pierre-Paul, sort of.
During his opening monologue, host Joel McHale announced the Giants defensive end as being in attendance. Cameras then cut to the above pictured fake finger with a Super Bowl ring on it laying on a chair.
Some thought it was gross. Others thought it was in poor taste. Most saw it as funny. The bottom line is, the ESPYs are a fun occasion and there was little chance Pierre-Paul’s mishap with fireworks that resulted in him having a finger amputated wasn’t going to come up as the subject of a joke at some point during the evening. McHale just happened to be the one who delivered it.
