I’m sure this comes as a huge shock to you, but Ben Tate got hurt in his first game with the Cleveland Browns.
Tate suffered a knee injury during the Browns’ opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers and was declared out for the rest of the game. In his place, rookies Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell (pictured) saw plenty of action and are now on the fantasy radar.
West and Crowell split carries after Tate exited the game. Crowell even scored two touchdowns in the third quarter.
Browns head coach Mike Pettine hinted at disappointment with West during the preseason but was not shy about using him in the opener. As of midway through the fourth quarter, West had more than doubled both Tate and Crowell in carries.
Crowell, despite being an undrafted free agent, was one of the top recruits in the country coming out of high school and was SEC Freshman of the Year, so the kid definitely has talent. He looks like the better player of the two, so we wouldn’t be surprised if they started giving him more action than West before long.
Keep your eye on this situation and monitor both Crowell and West for potential fantasy additions pending Tate’s status. West is probably owned in many leagues as a handcuff to Tate.
