Aaron Rodgers seems to have made clear his plans for 2025

Aaron Rodgers has been let go by the New York Jets, which led some to wonder whether retirement would be next for the quarterback. It does not seem like that will be the case, as long as Rodgers can help it.

Rodgers reportedly gave the Jets every signal that he wanted to keep playing when the two sides met this month. The Jets told him they would be going in a different direction at quarterback, though Rodgers did his best to argue for a spot.

Rodgers still wants to play though.

The 41-year-old has been working out this offseason. A reporter from TMZ even recorded a video interview with him where he was asked what factors would be at play when he chose his next team.

“If they want you,” Rodgers identified as a factor.

“If they got a good team,” Rodgers said as another.

Looks like Aaron Rodgers is working out again … do you think he definitely plays in 2025? 👀

That first item that Rodgers mentioned will be the top factor. The big problem for him is that there might not be a spot for him where a team wants him.

Though his final statistics with the Jets looked good on paper, he did not perform well enough in games, and that’s a big reason why the Jets finished 5-12. Rodgers passed for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

If Rodgers wants to extend his career, he might have to agree to work as a backup. Or he could continue to work out and stay in shape and hope to get a call if someone’s starting quarterback gets hurt. That might be his best bet if he wants to keep playing but not enter a season as a backup.
