Adrian Peterson aiming to be ‘the best player to ever play’

Though he has accomplished a vast amount in the NFL, Washington Redskins running back Adrian Peterson has some very lofty goals for the remainder of his career.

The 33-year-old wants to win an elusive Super Bowl, but he also wants to be remembered as the best running back to ever play the game.

“The best player ever to play is my mindset,” Peterson said, via John Keim of ESPN. “Being able to sit back and say I had a great time playing the game I love and I won a world championship and I was the best at my position.”

After rushing for 96 yards in the season opener, Peterson is 5,984 yards shy of Emmitt Smith’s all-time rushing record. That’s obviously a lofty goal and probably unrealistic, but that won’t stop him from trying. As one of his teammates predicted, he at the very least has something left to offer.
