Andrew Luck admits he suffered injury while snowboarding
Andrew Luck is set to take the field on Sunday following a lengthy recovery from shoulder surgery. While it was a torn labrum that he suffered during a game in 2015 that eventually forced him to go under the knife, a shoulder injury Luck suffered off the field also gave him some problems.
Early on in the 2017 season, some rumors surfaced that Luck had injured his shoulder in a snowboarding accident. Most people dismissed the idea due to poor sourcing, but Luck told Ian Rapoport of NFL Media that he suffered an AC joint sprain while snowboarding in the winter of 2016.
“I don’t snowboard anymore,” Luck said.
The injury occurred after he tore his labrum, and Luck insists it did not complicate his recovery. The setbacks he suffered supposedly had nothing to do with wiping out on the snow, and he said he has had numerous AC joint sprains and recovered from all of them with rehab.
“I’ve seen more doctors than I can count on two hands over the past two or three years, and the consensus — unanimous — is that the AC is not an issue, nor did it have an effect,” he said. “The labrum is an issue.”
If you remember, Luck also suffered a lacerated kidney after taking a ferocious hit during a game in 2015. Whether the snowboarding injury impacted his recovery or not, you can understand why he has decided to give up the hobby until after his NFL career ends.
