NFL OTAs have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, which is a real shame for Ben Roethlisberger.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback said he would have been ready for OTAs had they proceeded as scheduled, and vowed to be ready whenever in-person work is allowed to resume.
“I was going to be ready to go for OTAs and the minicamps,” Roethlisberger told Ed Bouchette of The Athletic on Monday. “That was going to be the plan. Now I don’t know how much I was going to do, I don’t know if I was going to be doing team stuff or stuff like that, but I would have been definitely going to be out there ready to go.
“My plan was to be out there doing individuals, doing one-on-one routes during OTAs and minicamps. That obviously is not going to happen. But if I was ready then, I’ll be ready when it’s time.”
Roethlisberger is recovering from elbow surgery that cost him virtually all of the 2019 season. His prognosis appears good, and he’ll have some extra time for rehab at this rate. No word on the state of his ridiculous beard.
