Bengals rookie has shady comment about team’s offense
Cincinnati Bengals rookie wide receiver Jermaine Burton has yet to win a big role in his team’s offense so far this season. He might not be helping himself with some of his public comments.
Burton was asked Thursday if he had any regrets about how he has handled the first few months of his first NFL season. The wide receiver said his only regret was that he could not put himself in the game, because he thinks he could make some plays.
“I can’t put myself in the game. Personally, I feel like I could have been (making) plays,” Burton said.

Remember, Burton was alleged to have slept through some preseason meetings, though he firmly denied this. He also had some disciplinary issues at Alabama, which may have factored into him falling to the third round of the NFL Draft.
Burton only has two catches on the season, as he has been stuck behind Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Andrei Iosivas on the wide receiver depth chart. Higgins has yet to practice this week, so there is a chance Burton could see his role grow a bit in Week 9 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
