Bills announce Derek Anderson will start Week 7 with Josh Allen out

Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen is expected to miss around two or three weeks with an elbow injury he suffered on Sunday, but it will not be Nathan Peterman starting in his place.

On Wednesday, Bills heads coach Sean McDermott confirmed that Allen is out for Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts. He also said recently signed veteran Derek Anderson will start the game.

Sean McDermott says Josh Allen has an "elbow sprain" and is "week-to-week". Derek Anderson starts Week 7.

The Bills signed Anderson before Allen went down, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Media notes that their plan was for him to tutor the rookie. However, Peterman threw two interceptions in Sunday’s loss, including a pick-six that basically lost the game for Buffalo.

Peterman has now thrown nine interceptions in just six career games, and a report from earlier in the week indicated McDermott would have risked losing his locker room if he started him in Week 7. With that in mind, you have to wonder how much longer Peterman will even last with the team.
