The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have another huge void to fill this offseason, as offensive lineman Ali Marpet has announced he is calling it a career.
Marpet, who is only 28, announced his retirement on Sunday.
Marpet had been a starter for the Bucs since they drafted him in the second round back in 2015. The former Hobart College star was named a Pro Bowler for the first time this past season.
Tampa Bay already has to find a way to replace Tom Brady, though they may have a big plan in the works for that. Losing Marpet obviously will not have as big of an impact as losing Brady, but it’s hard to plan for having to replace a 28-year-old Pro Bowler.
