The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to stick with head coach Todd Bowles for the 2026 season.

However, Bowles wasted no time and is already making a flurry of coaching changes. Offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard was fired on Thursday after just one season, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Bowles is also moving on from quarterbacks coach Thad Lewis, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

“The Bucs also are moving on from quarterbacks coach Thad Lewis, per source. Tampa Bay will let the new offensive coordinator replacing Josh Grizzard pick his QB coach. Lewis was with Baker Mayfield for all three of his seasons in Tampa Bay,” Fowler wrote on X.

Shortly after, the Buccaneers fired special teams coach Thomas McGaughey, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. He spent two seasons as the Bucs’ special teams after spending six years in the same role with the New York Giants.

Grizzard replaced Liam Coen, who left for the Jacksonville Jaguars job last offseason, and has them in the postseason in his first year as a head coach.

Grizzard was the Buccaneers’ pass game coordinator in 2024 but was promoted to OC after Coen’s departure. Prior to joining Tampa Bay, Grizzard spent seven seasons with the Miami Dolphins in various roles.

The Buccaneers offense ranked 21st in rushing yards and total yards per game, 19th in passing yards and 18th in points per game after being top-5 in all those categories in 2024.

Rapoport did mention a few possible OC candidates for Tampa Bay, including Baltimore Ravens OC Todd Monken.

A few key names to watch for the #Bucs OC job that has, in previous years, led to OCs becoming HCs:

— #Ravens OC Todd Monken
— #Falcons OC Zac Robinson. https://t.co/112JWdaphf

The Buccaneers defeated the Carolina Panthers, 16-14, in Week 18 to finish with an 8-9 record, but the Panthers won the NFC South due to a three-way tiebreaker scenario.

Now, Bowles is wasting no time changing the coaching staff in hopes of another playoff trip in 2026.
