Cam Newton takes big shot at Cowboys

Cam Newton looks on

The Dallas Cowboys have been one of the most popular franchises in sports for decades now, but Cam Newton thinks it is about time they stop getting so much media attention.

Cowboys stars Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs made headlines this week when they discussed the top quarterbacks in the NFL during Parsons’ podcast. Diggs listed his current top five quarterbacks and did not include Dak Prescott. Parsons then threw some additional names out, none of which were Dak’s.

The viral video became a topic of discussion on Friday’s edition of “First Take.” Newton at one point interrupted Stephen A. Smith and said he wanted to share his “real feelings.” The former NFL MVP then said he and his new colleagues shouldn’t even be discussing the 3-4 Cowboys.

“Why are we talking about the irrelevant Dallas Cowboys?” Newton asked. “Micah Parsons, yes, he’s succeeding with the podcast, with the content. That’s the thing — we all have podcasts, but that’s not the only players that’s actively playing with a podcast. We’re talking about a discussion that if you want to talk about podcasts, Amon-Ra St. Brown has a podcast. We’re not talking about him.

“Every time I’ve been on ‘First Take,’ this is my fourth time by the way, we always talking about the Cowboys.”

Of course, Smith, Ryan Clark and Molly Qerim responded by stating the obvious — people care. You can see the exchange:

Newton just recently started with “First Take,” so he is trying to make a name for himself. Riling up Cowboys fans is a great way to do that. Newton has also shown that he is not afraid to jab his co-workers over sensitive topics.

If Newton genuinely does not want to talk about the Cowboys, he is probably in the wrong profession.
