CeeDee Lamb prefers to wait before signing extension with Cowboys?
CeeDee Lamb is seeking a new contract from the Dallas Cowboys this offseason, but he may have one specific reason for wanting to wait a while longer before signing his new deal.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said on “SportsCenter” Sunday that the Cowboys are currently prioritizing their contract extension talks with Dak Prescott over those with Lamb. The star wide receiver is fine with that, however, because he would rather Justin Jefferson reset the market first.
“The Dallas Cowboys want to pay him at some point but they know that he’s probably waiting on Jefferson to sort of reset that market, then Lamb can come in somewhere landing his plane either behind Jefferson or close to him,” Fowler said.

The Cowboys have acknowledged that Lamb wants a new deal, but they are not putting a timeline on when an agreement could potentially be reached. Lamb has not attended voluntary offseason workouts, which was expected given the situation.
Lamb is set to make just under $18 million in the final year of his rookie contract next season. After he led the NFL with 135 receptions in 2023, he will likely want a very similar contract to whatever Jefferson gets from the Minnesota Vikings or another team.
