Chris Harris’ future with the Denver Broncos may be in serious question after nine seasons with the team.
Mike Klis of 9News in Denver reported on Monday that the star cornerback turned down a two-year, $25 million extension from the Broncos at the trade deadline. The extension is said to have only been guaranteed for the first year. Benjamin Allbright of KOA 850 AM in Colorado adds that Harris felt pressure to accept the extension and believed that the team was implying they might trade him if he didn’t.
The 30-year-old Harris, who will now be a free agent after the season, was signed by the Broncos after going undrafted back in 2011 and has spent his entire NFL career with them. He won Super Bowl 50 with them in 2016 and has made four Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams during his time in Denver.
Harris had to address concerns about his alleged unhappiness earlier in the year, and now his days with the Broncos could officially be numbered.
