Browns LB Christian Kirksey guarantees team will not go 0-16

The Cleveland Browns have officially surpassed the halfway point in the 2016 season without winning a single game, but one member of the team is making a big-time prediction about the next seven games.

The Browns will not lose all of them.

After Cleveland was blown out by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey guaranteed his team will not become the second in NFL history to go 0-16.

“We’re not going to go 0-16,” Kirksey said confidently, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “That’s for a fact. We’re not doing that. Things are going to get on a roll, and we’ve just got to keep fighting.”

Kirksey seems to have scaled back his optimism quite a bit in a short period of time. Just last week, he predicted the Browns would go undefeated the rest of the way. At least this way he won’t have to keep making that same prediction after each loss.

When asked if the Browns are motivated by not becoming the fifth winless NFL team since 1944, Kirksey conceded that they are.

“That’s motivation,” he said. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this, but we’re not going winless. We’re not.”

Browns fans should take comfort knowing that at least one of their team’s players is dreaming big.

If you heard what a furious Hue Jackson said after last week’s loss, you can only imagine how he feels now. The Browns may win a game at some point in 2016, but that won’t stop them from being one of the worst teams in league history.
