Darius Leonard aiming for record game after Pro Bowl snub
Despite leading the NFL in tackles as a rookie, Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard isn’t going to the Pro Bowl, and he’s pretty upset about it.
So upset, in fact, that he wants to show voters what they missed by posting 40 tackles Sunday against the New York Giants.
“He told me he wanted 40 tackles, but I told him it’s humanly impossible,” Colts tight end Eric Ebron said, via Mike Wells of ESPN. “He doesn’t care.”
“Impossible? There is nothing impossible,” Leonard added. “If you play a lot of snaps you’ve just got to get on every play possible.”
40 tackles in one game would, of course, blow away the current NFL record of 24.
Leonard made clear on Twitter that he was not happy to be excluded from the Pro Bowl despite a season that should clearly make him worthy of inclusion. Now that he’s out, he’s apparently intent on showing everyone just what they missed out on.
