DeMarco Murray announces he is retiring
DeMarco Murray has not received a lot of interest on the free agent market this offseason, and the star running back has decided that his playing days are over.
In an appearance on ESPN’s “NFL Live” Friday, Murray announced that he is retiring.
“I still got it,” Murray said. “I can still play this game, but I think maybe it’s time to move on.”
Murray has two children, and he said he wants to move on to “bigger and better things.” It should be noted that he made the announcement as part of the panel on the show and not via a guest interview, so it’s possible he will be working with ESPN going forward.
After he rushed for just 659 yards and six touchdowns on 184 attempts last season, Murray reportedly turned down at least one invitation to work out for a team. It seemed like he was aiming high and looking for a starting job at first, but perhaps he realized his expectations were unrealistic.
