Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has seen a limited role so far in his rookie season. But now he’s catching some bad injury luck just when he was starting to flash his upside.
Titans head coach Mike Mularkey said on Monday that an MRI revealed a strained calf for Henry, who was held out of Sunday’s loss to the San Diego Chargers, and he could be back quickly or could be out for a couple of weeks.
Mularkey: MRI showed strained calf for Derrick Henry. He will be monitored and could be back quickly or out a couple weeks.

Henry, the former Heisman Trophy winner, has managed just 53 carries for 221 yards playing behind lead back DeMarco Murray this season. But he got his opportunity in Week 8 with Murray partially hampered by a toe injury and rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars. That performance was good enough for Mularkey to say that Henry could see some extra work moving forward.
But with Murray back at full health and Henry now the one hobbled, it’s beginning to look less likely that the rookie will experience a discernible boost in his workload in the remainder of the year.
