Ryan Tannehill’s days as a member of the Miami Dolphins appear to be numbered.
According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have already made the decision to move on from Tannehill as the team’s quarterback, with owner Stephen Ross on board with the decision.
According to the report, the Dolphins would like to trade Tannehill, but would likely struggle to do so with his $18.7 million salary in 2019. The likelihood, and the expectation from Tannehill’s camp, is instead that he will simply be released at some point during the offseason.
This falls in line with some other reporting about Miami’s 2019 intentions — namely that they have no real intention of competing. Given that there are no indications that the Dolphins will seek out an established quarterback to replace Tannehill, we have a pretty good idea of Miami’s priorities going forward.
