Dolphins may have already decided on Tyreek Hill’s future

Tyreek Hill’s season is over after his devastating knee injury. That moment might also spell the end of his Miami Dolphins career.

The Dolphins are nearly certain to release Hill before the start of the 2026 league year, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports. None of the money the Dolphins owe Hill in 2026 is guaranteed, and the franchise is highly likely to take the opportunity to get out from under the contract at no cost to themselves.

The Dolphins would owe Hill $16 million if he remains on their roster on March 14. Considering Hill is unlikely to even be able to pass a physical at that point, there is little chance Miami would opt to do that.

Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus maintains that Hill will be ready to play for Week 1 of the 2026 season, but there is some skepticism about that as well.

It is possible that the Dolphins could bring Hill back on a renegotiated deal. He is currently in the second season of a 3-year, $90 million contract extension he signed last offseason.

Hill will inevitably be a risky investment for any team that is interested in him. He is 31 and coming off a dislocated knee, which is the type of injury that could have lingering long-term consequences. That is even more worrying for a player who has always been so reliant on his speed to make things happen on the field.

Hill is in his fourth season with the Dolphins. He had 21 catches for 265 yards and a touchdown before suffering the season-ending injury.
