Doug Baldwin admits Richard Sherman was right with criticism of Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the biggest surprises of the season in the NFL this year, and they officially punched their ticket to the playoffs with a win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. After the victory, veteran wide receiver Doug Baldwin had some interesting remarks about how the team managed to get back to this spot.
Richard Sherman has been highly critical of the Seahawks since he parted ways with them last offseason. In an interview Robert Klemko of The MMQB over the summer, the All-Pro cornerback spoke about how “unfortunate” it was that Seattle was unable to do more with a loaded roster that included him and several other Pro Bowlers.
“They’ve lost their way. It’s as simple as that,” Sherman said. “They’ve just lost their way. When you make too many mistakes over a long period of time, you kind of dig yourself a hole.”
Baldwin, who caught seven passes for 126 yards and a touchdown in Sunday’s 38-31 win over the Chiefs, was asked about Sherman’s comments during his postgame press conference. His response may surprise you.

“We did lose our way for a minute,” Baldwin said. “I think it was hard to hear the ugly truth about some things at times, but the truth is also beautiful and it forces you to look at yourself. … The truth of the matter is we had some questions that we had to answer.”
The Seahawks have managed to put together a 9-6 record in a season in which they parted ways with players like Sherman and Michael Bennett and lost Earl Thomas to a broken leg. They lost a ton of big names, but Pete Carroll has done a remarkable job of quickly getting the team back on track.
Baldwin always seemed to have a good relationship with Sherman, which might explain why he was a lot kinder to him than another Seahawks player was when asked about Sherman recently. Whether Sherman’s criticisms of Seattle have been accurate or not, his team is 4-11 and the Seahawks are headed back to the playoffs.
