Doug Marrone calls out Jaguars offense after win over Bills
The Jacksonville Jaguars won a defensive struggle against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but head coach Doug Marrone knows that they will have to play a lot better on the other side of the ball to advance any further in the postseason.
Speaking with the media after the Jaguars’ 10-3 win in their AFC wild-card game, Marrone called out his team’s offense without mentioning any names specifically. Here is what he had to say, per Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network:
Doug Marrone, not calling out a specific offensive player:
"If you want to continue to keep playing you’re going to have to do a better job."— Andrew Siciliano (@AndrewSiciliano) January 7, 2018
The Jaguars logged just 230 yards of total offense on Sunday, and quarterback Blake Bortles was particularly poor with only 12 completions for 87 yards and one touchdown (though he did add ten rushes for a team-high 88 yards).
As has been the case for the most of the season, the Jags were carried by their defense, including a huge game-sealing interception by Pro Bowl corner Jalen Ramsey in the final minute of the fourth quarter. They will need a much more well-rounded effort if they are to get a win on the road in the divisional round next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are eagerly awaiting them.
