Report: Jerry Jones met with Dez Bryant, did not discuss pay cut
There has been a lot of talk this offseason about Dez Bryant potentially having to take a pay cut to remain with the Dallas Cowboys, but there’s a good chance that is not going to happen.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said earlier this month that he expects Bryant to be back with the team in 2018. According to Ian Rapoport and Jane Slater of NFL Network, Jones and Bryant recently met and did not discuss anything about a pay cut or contract restructure.
#Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and WR Dez Bryant did have their much-anticipated conversation prior to the league year beginning, sources tell me and @SlaterNFL. They have not reached out to his agent Kim Miale on doing any alterations to his contract. His standing hasn’t changed.

As Rapoport notes, the Cowboys explored the possibility of bringing in Sammy Watkins or Allen Robinson. Both players have agreed to contracts with other teams, which could be a decent indication that Bryant is in Dallas’ future plans.
Bryant will be one of the highest-paid receivers in the NFL next season with a salary cap hit of $16.5 million, and he has not been nearly as productive since Dak Prescott took over for Tony Romo. Dez has also faced some criticism from his bosses, which makes you wonder if the Cowboys believe they would be better off without him. As of now, it does not appear that is the case.
