The New York Jets expect Garrett Wilson to be their top wide receiver for years to come, and they have proven that by signing the former first-round pick to a massive new contract.

Wilson and the Jets have agreed to a 4-year, $130 million contract extension, according to multiple reports. The deal includes $90 million in guaranteed money.

As ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted, Wilson will become the first receiver in NFL history to sign a contract worth more than $31 million annually after playing in the NFL for only three seasons.

Wilson has had more than 1,000 yards receiving in each of his first three NFL seasons. He set career highs last season with 101 catches, 1,104 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Wilson, the No. 10 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, was openly unhappy with his role in New York’s offense late last season. That led to speculation that he might be traded, but the Jets have since cleaned house and have a new head coach in Aaron Glenn and quarterback in Justin Fields.

The $32.5 million average annual salary makes Wilson the fifth-highest-paid receiver in the NFL behind only Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, CeeDee Lamb and DK Metcalf.
