Giants cut Kyle Rudolph to save money against salary cap
The New York Giants are working on cutting costs against the salary cap for 2022, and made a few moves on Wednesday to address their situation.
The Giants cut Kyle Rudolph and Devontae Booker. The Rudolph release was the big helper in terms of salary. Cutting Rudolph clears $5 million against the cap despite counting for $2.4 million in dead cap space.
Kyle Rudolph was scheduled to count $7.4M vs cap this year. The cap-strapped Giants save $5M with the move, even if it includes $2.4M in dead money.
Another terrible Dave Gettleman signing, especially given his foot required surgery after signing. Basically signed damaged goods

Rudolph was signed by the Giants last year after spending his entire career with Minnesota. He had just 26 catches for 257 yards and a touchdown in his lone season with the Giants.
The 32-year-old tight end posted a note to Giants fans.
.@Giants Fans thanks for taking me and my family in this past year! Certainly not the year any of us expected, but a year we will never forget.. We're appreciative of the Mara and Tisch Families for giving us the opportunity to be a Giant. pic.twitter.com/HSZzGGTXRI

The two-time former Pro Bowler told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that he does not plan to retire.
The Giants still project to be around $6 million over the cap at this point and have work to do.
