Hue Jackson: Browns will see if Josh Gordon is ‘right fit’
Josh Gordon has yet to be reinstated by the NFL, and it is unclear if he will be welcomed back to the Cleveland Browns if and when that day comes. As of now, Hue Jackson is not willing to commit one way or the other.
On Wednesday, Jackson told reporters that the team needs to determine if Gordon is the “right fit.”
“It’s like any other player. I think I will go through the process of spending time with him and see if it’s the right fit for us,” the Browns coach said, via Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “Obviously he’s a very talented individual, but at the same time, it’s got to fit right for us as we move forward in this situation.”
Gordon, of course, missed the entire 2015 season after he was suspended indefinitely for failing another drug test, reportedly because he drank alcohol while he was still in the NFL’s intervention program. Gordon was being tested as part of the terms for his reinstatement from a previous 10-game suspension for pleading guilty to driving while impaired.
We have heard some positive news about Gordon in recent months, and he recently created a buzz when he made some people think he had been reinstated with this tweet.
Given all the headaches the Browns have had to deal with courtesy of Johnny Manziel, you have to wonder if they want to bother with Gordon. Although, Gordon is roughly the same age as Manziel and is one of the best players in the NFL at his position. The same can’t be said for Manziel, whose performance on and off the field has been equally disappointing.
