Tom Brady has not looked himself for much of this season, and many of his passes over the last few games have been noticeably inaccurate. That could have a lot to do with his age, but the 42-year-old quarterback also appears to be battling an elbow injury.
Brady has been dealing with an injury to his throwing elbow for several weeks, and he appeared to aggravate it during the New England Patriots’ loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14. He showed up to his press conference after that game with a large wrap on his right elbow, but he practiced in full leading up to last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Brady is practicing in full again this week, but a video from Thursday’s workout showed him shaking out his elbow after making some throws.

Brady hinted last month that the extra care he was giving his elbow was just precautionary, but it’s fair to wonder if he is hiding something. The Patriots are known for downplaying injuries, so that could be what is going on with Brady’s elbow.
Brady completed just 15-of-29 passes against the Bengals, and he missed a few open receivers throughout the game. There has been a lot of talk about New England’s offense lacking the personnel to make plays consistently, and there is certainly truth to that. However, Brady’s elbow ailment may be a much bigger factor than he and the team are letting on.
