Tom Brady was listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, but there was never really a risk of him sitting out. However, the elbow injury he has been battling sounds like it is something that requires his attention, if nothing else.
Brady and the Patriots typically provide little to no information on injuries, but the quarterback spoke about the elbow ailment during his weekly interview with Westwood One’s Jim Gray on Monday night. From the way it sounds, the 42-year-old is trying to be proactive with the issue.
“I think sometimes it’s smart to try to get ahead of injuries,” Brady said. “I spent a lot of time with (trainer Alex Guerrero) getting extra treatment and did so after the game (Sunday) night, did so (Monday). I’ll be feeling good this week and be ready to go.”
Brady said there were times in the past when he would try to push through injuries and risk hurting himself further in practice, but he has “gotten a little bit smarter about how to take care of myself” as he has aged. That is obviously important for a player in his 40s, and it’s one of the reasons Brady has continued to play at a high level this late in his career.
The conditions in Foxboro on Sunday made it difficult to tell how healthy Brady was, as it was raining and windy. A report about his elbow injury that came out before kickoff sounded a bit troubling, but it would be a surprise if it forced him to miss a game going forward.
