Jalen Milroe has strong 3-word message for teams who passed on him in draft

Jalen Milroe is channeling Patrick Beverley as he enters the NFL.

The former Alabama quarterback Milroe experienced a slight slide during this week’s NFL Draft and ended up going in the third round. The Seattle Seahawks took Milroe with the No. 92 overall pick, making him the fourth quarterback off the board (after Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, and Tyler Shough).

Speaking with Pro Football Talk in an interview after being drafted, Milroe was asked if he had a message to all the teams that passed on him. Milroe then issued a simple three-word response.

“Belt to a–,” Milroe replied.

In other words, Milroe is ready to whoop some behind in the NFL.

The 23-year-old Milroe spent four seasons at Alabama, including two as the starter. While his individual numbers last year were strong (2,844 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns, and 20 rushing touchdowns), Milroe also threw 11 interceptions as the Crimson Tide finished an underwhelming 9-4 and lost in the ReliaQuest Bowl to Michigan.

On top of that, Milroe was recently the subject of an unflattering claim suggesting that his teammates at Alabama were supposedly fed up with him by the end of his time there. Milroe’s measurements at the NFL Combine a couple of months ago sparked some concern as well.

Nonetheless, Milroe’s physical gifts speak for themselves, and many scouts prior to the draft were completely blown away by him. As for the Seahawks, who have now traded away both Geno Smith and Sam Howell this offseason, they will be giving Milroe an opportunity to compete with Drew Lock for the QB2 job behind their presumptive starter Sam Darnold. Armed with a chip on his shoulder, Milroe is ready to seize his moment.
