Jamal Adams upset with Jets GM Joe Douglas over trade talks
Jamal Adams seems to be upset with the New York Jets’ front office.
Adams was the subject of trade rumors on Tuesday but was not dealt before the deadline. The talented safety decided to send a few tweets to fans to address the matter and reassure fans of his commitment to the team. Adams said on Twitter that he never asked for a trade and that he told New York Jets GM Joe Douglas and head coach Adam Gase that he wants to be with the Jets. He then said his agent told him the Jets went behind his back and shopped him around.
At the end of the week last week, I sat down with the GM and Coach Gase and told them I want to be here in New York. I was told yesterday by my agent that the GM then went behind my back and shopped me around to teams, even after I asked him to keep me here! Crazy business.

This seems to be a weird public relations game Adams is playing.
The Jets were said to be open to making trades, which makes some sense considering their struggles this year. Le’Veon Bell and Adams were two of the players they reportedly received trade calls for, but did not deal either player. The Jets’ trade price for Adams was said to be high, which explains why he was not dealt.
The #Cowboys engaged in talks with the #Jets on S Jamal Adams and NYJ was only willing to part with Adams for a 1st rounder and two 2nd rounders, per me and @SlaterNFL. That is a LOT and shows Adams’ value.

That shows how much the Jets value Adams.
The question really is about whether the Jets shopped Adams and were actively tried to deal him, or if they took calls on him. It seems like it was more of the latter than the former.

That is part of the responsibility of a front office worker, and agents and players should understand that.
What Adams might not be happy about was reporting, such as from NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, that said the safety would be open to a trade to the Cowboys.
Knowing the #Jets are open to dealing several of their big-name players, the #Cowboys have touched base with them on a possible deal for #Jets S Jamal Adams, sources say. He’s indicated he’s open to a move. Compensation would be massive.

The New York Daily News also reported that Adams would have welcomed a trade to Dallas.
Maybe Adams would have been open to such a trade but wants to let the fans know he was not pushing for it. Nobody needs to apologize; this is part of the business and the way things work. Adams remains a Jet and the fans should be grateful about that. Whether this is the beginning of a potential push by the safety to be traded remains to be seen.
