Jameis Winston explains why he chose to sign with Saints
Jameis Winston on Tuesday officially reached a deal to join the New Orleans Saints, and he shared his reasons why.
Winston says the opportunity to learn in a great environment sold him.
More from Winston: “I wanted to put my ego aside-put the money to the side-to think about my family, think about my career. And there was no better position than to be in the same room with someone I’ve really looked up to, I’ve admired since I’ve been playing … in Drew Brees.” https://t.co/9z9mt3kklk

Winston was the No. 1 overall pick in 2015 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was replaced by Tom Brady. Winston knew the opportunities to start or compete for a starting job were limited, so the next best thing was to learn under the best. He is hoping that by playing for Sean Payton and alongside Drew Brees, he can rebuild his stock the way Teddy Bridgewater did.
Brees says that he is “excited” about teaming up with Winston, according to ESPN’s Mike Triplett. Brees cited Winston’s work ethic and love of the game as positives.
Drew Brees on Jameis Winston: “Excited to have him in the QB room. He’s got a lot of talent and a bright future. I’ve heard a lot of good things about his work ethic and love of the game.”

Winston was waiting for over a month to decide where he would sign before choosing the Saints. Even though he will have a crowd in New Orleans between Brees and Taysom Hill, it seems like a nice landing spot for the QB.
