The door remains open for Jason Pierre-Paul to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019, but it won’t happen for at least the first six weeks of the season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Pierre-Paul has been placed on the reserve/non-football injury list. That means the defensive lineman won’t be able to play until Week 7 at the very earliest.

Pierre-Paul was recently allowed to resume rehab after his car crash, which is good news for his chances of playing in 2019. There’s just no real way of knowing when he may be ready, but it won’t be until at least mid-October.
The 30-year-old made a huge impact in his first season with Tampa Bay in 2018, collecting 12.5 sacks in 16 games.
