Jay Gruden really, really seems to hate Robert Griffin III
Robert Griffin III will get another for the Washington Redskins this weekend after Colt McCoy was sent to injured reserve with a neck injury. RG3 is basically starting by default, and head coach Jay Gruden seems downright depressed about it.
During his scheduled press conference on Tuesday, Gruden stressed the importance of getting out to an early lead against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Why? So Griffin doesn’t have to drop back and try to read the defense.
Seriously, those are the types of remarks Gruden was making. Mike Jones of the Washington Post has plenty more gems:
Gruden says it's important to get a lead so griffin doesn't have to do a lot of dropback passing and defense reading.

Gruden says as a play caller he can't think about Griffin's injury history. Just has to hope he can become more durable and play smart.

Gruden says it'll take time for Griffin to become more savvy.

Gruden on Griffin: "I don't expect perfection from him but I just need to see some progress from him"

Gruden maintains that he let clock run because griffin so slow getting up. Says he needs to get up quicker and avoid awkward hits and falls.

That is the second time in a week that Gruden has publicly criticized RG3 for his inability to drop back and read a defense. If you can believe it, Gruden was even harsher on Griffin earlier this season.
Given how many shots Gruden has taken at RG3, it seems that the first-year coach and former Baylor star will not be able to coexist beyond this season. Redskins ownership will need to choose between the two in the coming weeks.
