Jets waive 4-time Pro Bowl player
The New York Jets are moving on from one of their big offseason additions.
Dalvin Cook was waived by the Jets on Tuesday, according to the veteran running back’s agent. The decision is one that Cook and the Jets came to mutually so that Cook can pursue an opportunity with a playoff team.

Cook signed a 1-year deal with the Jets last offseason that was worth a maximum of $8.6 million. He will likely clear waivers, at which point he will be free to sign with any team.
In 15 games with the Jets, Cook had just 67 carries for 214 yards. He did not score a touchdown. The 4-time Pro Bowl back was expected to have a significant role early in the season as Breece Hall recovered from a torn ACL, but he was unable to take advantage of the opportunity.
It remains to be seen if a playoff team will have interest in Cook, as the 28-year-old is not nearly as explosive as he once was. He might find a job as a complimentary piece given that there will be little risk in signing him.
