Browns’ John Dorsey tries to control the hype around team

The Cleveland Browns are more hyped this season than ever before, but general manager John Dorsey doesn’t want anyone getting too carried away.

At Thursday’s kickoff party to celebrate Cleveland landing the 2021 NFL Draft, Dorsey had a very simple message for fans in attendance.

“Don’t believe the hype,” Dorsey said, via Zac Jackson of The Athletic.

It’s not the first time that Dorsey offered up such a message, saying the chatter around the Browns was mere “hype” back in April. Coach Freddie Kitchen has been trying to do the same thing as well.

The Browns find themselves in a unique situation. Thanks to some aggressive offseason movement, they’re gaining more attention than nearly every other team despite their recent lack of success. It’s easy to see why — Baker Mayfield looked so promising last season, and Odell Beckham Jr. can only help. Dorsey still needs to send the message — for the players and fans alike.
