Jonathan Dwyer accused of assaulting wife and child, causing fracture

Jonathan-Dwyer-arrested

Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer was arrested at the team facility on Wednesday after being questioned by Phoenix police regarding two alleged assaults.

Dwyer’s wife, who is 27, filed a report with police on Sept. 11 alleging she was assaulted by the running back on July 21 and 22. She also said their 18-month-old child was a victim.

Police were called to the home following the first incident after a neighbor reported a disturbance. Police came to the home and were convinced by the wife that the fight was verbal. They believe Jonathan was hiding in a bathroom until police left. In the second fight, police believe Dwyer threw his wife’s cell phone from the second story of their home and also threw a shoe at their child.

Dwyer was booked on one count of aggravated assault causing a fracture, one count of aggravated assault involving a minor, two counts of criminal damage and one count of preventing the use of a phone in an emergency assault.

Dwyer’s wife took their child and went out of state after the alleged assaults.

Dwyer reportedly acknowledged to police the incidents took place but denied the assaults. He has been deactivated by the Cardinals while under investigation.
