Joseph Randle dismisses Steven Jackson’s plea to Cowboys

Joseph-Randle-Cowboys

With DeMarco Murray now in Philadelphia with the Eagles, Joseph Randle is firmly in the mix to be the lead running back for the Cowboys this season. It’s a cherished spot to have, considering Dallas has among the best offensive lines in the NFL. Heck, Steven Jackson went as far as using Twitter to let the Cowboys know he’s available.

It’s safe to say, Randle doesn’t feel the least bit threatened by the 32-year-old Jackson.

“That don’t have nothing to do with me,” Randle said Friday, via the Dallas Morning News. “That’s him, he’s at home watching. We’re just trying to get better here.”

With that settled, we can turn to the options Dallas has in-house. Randle played in 16 games last season, rushing for 343 yards (6.7 avg). Darren McFadden came over from the Raiders, bringing loads of potential with him. It’s hard to believe he’s just 27 years old because it feels like he’s been in the league forever. In news easier to believe, he will start training camp on the active/physically unable to perform list with a hamstring injury. Lance Dunbar also figures to get carries.

Steven Jackson was a productive runner for nearly a decade with the Rams, but has seen that production slip the last two years to the point where he’s still currently without a team. Perhaps he can latch on with one closer to the end of camp. If not, as Randle said, Jackson will be “home watching” this season.
