Josh Allen’s unusual game day hat has great story behind it

Josh Allen won over even more fans on Sunday when he shared the story behind his game day hats.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback’s cap turned heads as he entered Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., for his team’s Week 5 clash against the New England Patriots. The hat looked like a five-year-old had designed it.

When Allen explained the hats in a segment during “Sunday Night Football,” he revealed his hat was actually designed by a five-year-old. The game day caps will be auctioned as part of a fundraiser for Buffalo’s Oishei Children’s Hospital.

“All this money is getting donated to the right causes,” Allen said. “It’s helping families. It’s helping kids the care that they need. It’s helping doctors get the equipment that they need to then take care of the kids, and these hats are just a representation of that.

“To wear these hats that are designed by these children who are going under some of the hardest situations that you can ever imagine, especially at that young of an age, and these families are going through such hard times, to know that I’m representing them, and they’re representing me, it’s a pretty cool feeling.”

The hat he wore for Sunday’s game was designed by a young fan named Bryn, who arguably did a better job of recreating the Bills’ logo than most adults would be able to.

Allen has had a pretty great year so far.

In just the last few months, the Bills star married Hailee Steinfeld and led Buffalo to a 4-0 record to start the NFL season. He’s also gained dozens of new fans from Oishei Children’s Hospital.
