Report: Julian Edelman foot injury ‘not believed to be serious’
Julian Edelman left practice on Tuesday after suffering some sort of injury to his lower left leg, but early reports are that the New England Patriots wide receiver is going to be fine.
According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, initial exams indicated that Edelman did not suffer a serious injury.
Based on the initial exams, #Patriots WR Julian Edelman's injury is not believed to be serious, source said. Will keep checking.

Of course, the concern is Edelman’s left foot. He suffered a Jones Fracture last season and has had two surgeries since that time. ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported that Patriots trainers were looking at that same foot, and Edelman eventually walked off under his own power.
While Edelman appeared frustrated, an orthopedic specialist tells LBS that it would be unlikely for an athlete to bear weight on his or her foot in the event of a re-fracture. Edelman’s foot may have been supported enough with tape that he would be able to do it, but the source adds that team doctors and trainers likely would not have wanted Edelman to walk on the foot if it was fractured again.
Edelman recently looked great taking batting practice with the Red Sox (video here), and the Patriots were obviously confident enough to take him off the physically unable to perform list. It would be a shame if he suffered a setback.
