Kevin Mawae campaigns for Zach Thomas to make Hall of Fame
Kevin Mawae was among those inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night, and he used a part of his induction speech to campaign for another player.
Mawae, who played 16 seasons from 1994-2009, said that linebacker Zach Thomas deserved a spot in the Hall of Fame.
HOF OL Kevin Mawae shouts out #Dolphins great Zach Thomas during his enshrinement speech: “When they ask me who should be in the Hall of Fame, I think of No. 54 from the Miami Dolphins.”

Thomas retired after the 2008 season, a year before Mawae hung up his cleats. Thomas was a 7-time Pro Bowler, five-time first-team All-Pro, member of the 2000 NFL All-Decade team, and he is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. Thomas was one of the best linebackers in the game during his 13-season NFL career. He twice led the league in tackles.
Thomas should get a spot in Canton soon. Thanks to Mawae’s support, he’ll have a much better chance.
