Sorry Lamar Jackson, Chris Harris Jr still thinks Patrick Mahomes is the best

Patrick Mahomes

Lamar Jackson is a virtual lock to win the NFL MVP Award, but not every player in the NFL believes he has surpassed last year’s MVP.

Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to a 23-3 win over the Denver Broncos in snowy conditions on Sunday, and he made some of his signature jaw-dropping throws despite the inclement weather. He completed 27-of-34 passes for 340 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Following the game, Pro Bowl cornerback Chris Harris Jr. emphatically declared that Mahomes is “better than Lamar.”

With the way Jackson is playing this season and Mahomes has played over the last two years, the Jackson vs. Mahomes debate could be one we are hearing about for the next decade. Both quarterbacks have been doing things on the field that have rarely been seen in NFL history, and their emergence has the league in great position for when players like Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers are no longer around.

After he threw for 50 touchdown passes last season, Mahomes has 23 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions this year. Jackson has 33 TD passes and six interceptions, but he has also rushed for more than 1,000 yards and now holds the record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season. Choosing one player over the other is impossible at this point, so we should probably just sit back and enjoy the remarkable plays they have been making on a consistent basis.
