Report: Lions block defensive coordinator Teryl Austin from speaking to Packers
The Detroit Lions are not in the business of helping division rivals.
According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, the Lions have denied the Green Bay Packers’ request to interview defensive coordinator Teryl Austin for the same position.
I'm told the #Lions have denied Teryl Austin, who is still under contract as the team's defensive coordinator, permission to interview with the #Packers, per source.

The Lions are currently without a head coach, which makes this interesting. They’ve interviewed Austin, but he’s probably a longshot to land that job. They’ve also allowed Austin to interview for the Bengals’ defensive coordinator job, so this is pretty much down to the Lions blocking a division rival from hiring one of their own to fill the vacancy on their coaching staff that came about earlier in the week.
