Malcolm Butler held out of Patriots practices after being late

Super Bowl hero Malcolm Butler was held out of the first three weeks of New England Patriots OTAs as punishment for being late to the first day of practice last month.

The Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe reported Wednesday that Butler was late to the first practice on May 26 because of a flight issue. Butler planned to fly to Boston the day before OTAs but the flight was pushed back because of the weather. He arrived in Boston the next day but was late to the first practice.

Ben Volin of The Boston Globe says Butler finally was able to practice on Wednesday.

This is some harsh punishment for Butler. Perhaps Bill Belichick is trying to teach the hero not to get a big head and humble him. It’s quite the harsh lesson from the coach.
